IT MANAGER
Job Description:
Technology Leader Companies · Lancaster, PA
Company Overview:
Technology Leader Companies is a Lancaster, Pennsylvania-based professional services organization operating through three specialized subsidiaries: Business Consulting Leader, Presales Leader, and Product Marketing Leader (operating in market as Full Stack Marketing). Business Consulting Leader provides Acumatica ERP implementation and optimization consulting; Presales Leader provides subscription-based presales support; and Product Marketing Leader/Full Stack Marketing provides outsourced marketing services — all primarily serving Acumatica resellers, VARs, and ISVs.
Position Summary:
Technology Leader Companies is hiring a full-time IT Manager to bring in-house ownership of the infrastructure, security, and technology support currently handled on an ad hoc basis internally. This is a hands-on, full-ownership role: the IT Manager will manage our server environment, administer our core productivity and security platforms, support end users, and build out the security and operational practices (backup/DR, patch management, endpoint protection, awareness training) we don't yet have in place.
Key Responsibilities:
Server & Infrastructure Management:
- Own day-to-day management of our 6 Windows Server / SQL Server instances (currently hosted with Liquid Web), including our production. Acumatica environment and separate demo/sandbox environments.
- Establish and maintain a patch management cadence for OS and SQL Server updates.
- Design and maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures, with defined recovery time/point objectives (RTO/RPO) at minimum for production systems.
- Own SSL/TLS certificate lifecycle management across all company domains and servers (currently issued through GoDaddy and renewed manually) — eliminate reliance on manual renewal.
- Evaluate and recommend hosting strategy (continue with current provider vs. alternatives) as the environment grows.
ERP Administration and Management:
- Operate as our Acumatica System Administrator to support internal IT projects, upgrades, etc.
- Help generate reports, dashboards, and integrations as requested by the leadership team.
Productivity & Identity Platform Administration:
- Administer Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace: user provisioning/deprovisioning, security configuration, MFA/conditional access enforcement.
- Periodically review license utilization and recommend consolidation opportunities across our dual Microsoft/Google environment.
Security & Endpoint Management:
- Deploy and manage business-grade endpoint protection (antivirus/anti-malware) and VPN across all company devices.
- Administer enterprise password management across the organization.
- Build and maintain a cybersecurity awareness training program for all staff
- Evaluate and, subject to budget approval, implement endpoint detection & response (EDR/XDR) and/or outsourced SOC monitoring.
AI & Productivity Tooling:
- Administer business-tier AI tooling subscriptions including license provisioning and usage governance.
- Evaluate new AI/productivity tools as requested by leadership and manage the resulting vendor relationships.
Help Desk & Vendor Management:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for internal IT support requests; establish a lightweight ticketing process and informal response-time targets.
- Own relationships with technology vendors (hosting, SaaS subscriptions, hardware suppliers) including renewals, negotiations, and invoice review.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of company software licenses, hardware assets, and vendor contracts.
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of hands-on experience administering Windows Server and Microsoft SQL Server environments.
- Demonstrated experience administering Microsoft 365 and/or Google Workspace at the tenant/admin level.
- Working knowledge of endpoint security tools (antivirus/EDR), VPN technologies, and password management platforms.
- Practical understanding of backup/disaster recovery design and patch management practices.
- Comfortable being the sole in-house IT resource — strong troubleshooting skills and ability to prioritize independently.
- Clear, professional communication skills for supporting non-technical end users.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Acumatica or another mid-market ERP platform.
- Experience managing SSL/TLS certificates and domain administration (e.g., GoDaddy).
- Security certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CySA+) or willingness to obtain one.
- Prior experience at a managed service provider (MSP) or as a sole IT generalist for a small/mid-size company.
- Familiarity with AI productivity tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Fathom, etc.) and associated data governance considerations.
Success Metrics (First-Year):
- Documented, tested backup/DR plan in place for all production systems.
- Fleet-wide endpoint protection and VPN deployed.
- Zero SSL certificate lapses; automated renewal/alerting process in place.
- Cybersecurity awareness training program launched company-wide.
- Documented patch management cadence with tracked compliance rate.
